Mexican Cantina opened on Victory Boulevard in the Castleton Corners neighborhood in 2019 with a simple goal: give Staten Island a lively neighborhood place for flavorful food, handcrafted drinks and relaxed hospitality. The dining room was built to feel welcoming, with comfortable booths and cozy corners that leave room for everyone from a quick bite to a big table of friends and family.
Mexican favorites remain at the heart of the menu, but the burgers have earned a devoted following of their own. Whether guests join us for dinner, drinks or an easy online order, the focus stays on generous flavor and a good experience.

Owner Nilo Gutama opened Mexican Cantina after more than a decade in the restaurant industry. Before starting the Cantina, his most recent experience was at Da Noi, a popular Italian restaurant on Staten Island.
In 2026, Nilo partnered with Luis Lopez, co-owner of the Bay Street location, to bring the Cantina to a new part of Staten Island. Their shared approach continues the locally owned, hands-on focus on consistency, attentive service and food people want to return for.

GROWING WITH STATEN ISLAND
In summer 2026, Nilo Gutama and Luis Lopez came together to create Mexican Cantina II on Bay Street in Rosebank, bringing the food, drinks and neighborhood energy guests know from Victory Boulevard to Staten Island’s North Shore.
We’re excited to welcome even more Staten Islanders to the Cantina and give more families, friends and neighbors a place to enjoy the food, drinks and atmosphere that have been part of our story since 2019.
